The internet went crazy this week after RMR released his music video for his song “Rascal”. It started trending on Twitter first then quickly on Facebook and Instagram. Since the release of the video, RMR has gained alot of influence and has been featured on many big music blogs and has gotten major support from big artists in the industry. Everything was looking good for RMR his video quickly gained 500k views on youtube in 3 days that is until yesterday when the video was taken down from youtube.
We are not completely sure why the video was taken down but after doing some research we believe it was because of Rascal Flatts. Rascal Flatts is an American country band formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1999. They have a song called “Bless The Broken Road”. Apparently “Rascal” by RMR is a recreation of the Rascal Flatts song. Since it is a recreation of the band’s song then I guess they have the right to remove the song. Although they do have the right to remove his video if this is true we hope RMR can find a way to get it back up or Rascal Flatts receives some backlash over this. People have started to use the hashtag #FreeRMR. Even big music executives are speaking out about his video being taken down.
CEO of Mosley Music Group Timbo the King had this to say about the situation.
As of now, the video is still up on our youtube channel and Facebook page where it has accumulated over 5m Views on our Facebook “The New Wave”
We are not sure how long that will last but we will keep guiding people to RMR’s other social media channels until he is able to get his video restored.
