Legendary Brands XLARGE & D*FACE Drop Exclusive DesignerCon Merch Collab

XLARGE started as a shop in the LA neighborhood of Los Feliz, on Vermont street in 1991. Opened by Eli Bonerz and Adam Silverman, the store catered to their diverse community and was quickly adopted by personalities such as Mike D of the Beastie Boys, Spike Jonez, and Chloe Sevigny. The XLARGE clothing brand was a true reflection of its surroundings and Los Angeles lifestyle. The brand drew inspiration from work wear, vintage, and club scene aesthetics; to mid-century design, skateboarding and music influences. Iconic for its Gorilla logo, XLARGE is established as one of the originals and continues to influence generations of streetwear culture worldwide. Because of this cult core fanbase, there are 352 retailers (219 Internationally) carrying the apparel in their stores.

Since founding the brand in 1991, XLARGE has always been at the forefront of brand collaborations. These include capsules with Columbia, Dragonball Z, Yayoi Kusama, Sprite, Puma, and more which has helped the brand mold out a cult fanbase over the last 28 years. The brand launched in a pivotal era for the fashion scene in LA, when skateboard and music culture started to go hand in hand, as opposed to NY where hip hop and graffiti culture were born. Because of this Eli Bonerz, Adam Silverman, and Mike D of the Beastie Boys helped give the brand a strong cultural identity.

Almost 30 years later, XLARGE continues to be the innovator and pioneer of the streetwear world. XLARGE decided to collaborate with London based artist D*FACE because of the London-based artist commitment to authenticity within the British art scene for over 15 years. For this collaboration, D*FACE created a new character which combines his signature D*Dog with XLARGE’s OG Gorilla. XLARGE creative director Josh Madden says, “We are excited to have D*FACE with us at DesignerCon. Collectively, us at XLARGE, we are all avid fans of his art. The capsule and collectibles have drawn attention globally, we’re honored to partner with him.”

Apparel items will include a variety of graphics that span the artists’ career, and all will be embellished with D*FACE’s signature hand style, which has become an iconic font. Other items available for fans to purchase at their DesignerCon booth will include a skate deck, a large and small [email protected], and four OG figure color ways. Make sure to stop by their booth at DesignerCon from November 22nd-24th at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. There will be a VIP only admittance on the 22nd from 5pm-9pm, and general admission will be from10am-7pm on Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday.
